Song Circus is a young ensemble of six well experienced singers with their roots in the creative improvisation and contemporary music environment of western Norway. The group is a mixture of classical trained voices and jazz/impro singers. They like to perform written comtemporary music and improvisational based music, with and without electronics. Song Circus aim for collaborating together with composers. In April 2009 they had the great pleasure of working and performing with the English composer Trevor Wishart, both through improvisation and the performance of his wonderful, rare and complex composition "Anticredos". And in autumn 2009 Song Circus worked on visual scores by the Dutch composer and performance artist Jaap Blonk. Blonk visited Stavanger and Song Circus in October and they had a wonderful seminar and concert together. Summer 2010 Song Circus is collaborating with Else Olsen Storesund (prep. piano) and Sigyn Fossnes, Billedkunstnernes Forening i Rogaland (organization for visual arts), Tou Scene, Ny Musikk (org. for contemporary music), The University og Stavanger og Forum for freelance musicians. Song Circus.. concerts and workshops are focusing on the Open Form genre, with works by Cage, Wolff, Oliveros and Storesund. Song Circus will also do a concert with works by Wishart og Blonk. In November 2010 Song Circus is starting a project together with the percussionist and vocalist David Moss. David Moss is creating a small opera for the ensemble and himself. First premiere for the opera is summer 2011.
